Look what arrived!  *happy dance*

The audiobook arrived yesterday and the kids & I listened to the first disc last night & will listen to another one tonight.  We’re very much enjoying it!  I loved being able to sit together as a family & listen to this story.  I’m including this in our Homeschool lessons not only for Literature studies but we’re 3 chapters into the book & there’s already so many valuable life lessons that the kids have recognised.  They’ve also noticed characteristics of the twins that they themselves have.

The book arrived about half an hour ago.  It’s so beautiful!  I love the embossed lettering on the cover & spine.  And as I’ve been hearing that copies bought in the UK do not have the fold-out map I was surprised that my book did have the map.  I bought it through the Book Depository UK website.  We’re trying to decide who will get to read it first…I may have to pull rank on this one ;)

Reading With An Agenda

mooderino:

There are probably some books you feel like you should read but you don’t really want to.

They’re great books—you know this because everyone says they are. They win awards and feature on Best Of lists and when you look at the photo of the author on the back, they seem to be saying: “This is what a real writer looks like.”

But your heart sinks if you even think about picking the book up. It’s not your style, it’s not your genre, it’s too long, it’s too boring.

Well, there’s a way around this problem.

This is Hever Castle in Kent, England.
It was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, 2nd wife of Henry VIII, but eventually was given to Anne of Cleves, Henry VIII’s 4th wife.
In 1903 it was bought by William Waldorf Astor, an American millionaire, who restored it to use as a family residence.
It is now open to the public.
